TRM Sensors has introduced the TRM-ALOS Any Liquid Optical Sensor.
This sensor uses an optical probe mounted on the bottom surface of a hard rubber hockey puck. The puck provides a stable, low center of gravity, protective sensor body that allows the TRM-ALOS to be placed on any flat horizontal surface. Concrete floors and drip pans are ideal installation sites.
The optical probe itself is a conical polymer prism that internally reflects light generated by an infrared LED. When liquid contacts the tip of the probe, some of the IR light is scattered by the liquid and the internal phototransistor switches off. Circuits within the probe switch the sensor output logic from low to high. There are no moving parts, All conductors and components are sealed within the sensor body and the sensor is fabricated using polysufone which provides excellent resistance to most industrial and commercial liquids.
TRM-ALOS can be monitored by either the TRM-Easy5 smart relay family or by the newly upgraded TRM-Wall-Alarm. Each Easy5 smart relays can monitor up to 8 of the TRM-ALOS probes and simple to use dry relay contacts are provided. The TRM-Wall-Alarm includes a loud buzzer and an illuminated SILENCE push button. The Wall Alarm also features two SPDT output relays to control a rotating beacon or other alarm signaling devices or for connection to the facility BMS. Each TRM-Wall Alarm can monitor up to 4 daisy-chained TRM-ALOS optical sensors.
