Special Purpose Adapters

Special Purpose Adapters are developed to meet recurring needs where sensor outputs do not match the input requirements of the selected monitoring equipment. Typically these are low power devices, DIN rail mounted on or adjacent to the monitoring devices.  These adapters are not typically used in isolation.  Rather they are designed to work in conjunction with a device like the TRM-Easy5-SDR monitoring relay or TraceTek’s TT-SIM family.

TRM-DFS

TRM-Opto-to-Relay Adapter

This adapter is used to monitor 3-wire optical level sensors made by GEMS using TraceTek TT-SIM networks.  The device operates neither 12 or 24 Vdc (which must be specified at the time of order).   The GEMS probes must be of the “current sink” type.    The output is a normally open dry contact that can be monitored by the classic 4-wire TraceTek circuit.

TRM-IOS

TRM-to-SIM Adapter

TRM-to-SIM Adapters are used to interface 2-wire TRM probes (TRM-DFS-3; TRM-IOS and TRM-CC) to 4-wire TraceTek TT-SIM monitoring devices and networks.  TRM probes indicate their “normal” state with a low resistance that goes high when a leak is detected,  but TraceTek equipment anticipates a high resistance for normal conditions and a low resistance to indicated a leak detection.   The ultra low power, TRM-to-SIM adapters uses current from the TT-SIM sensor cable circuit to monitor the attached TRM probe and then signals the TT-SIM when a leak has been detected.    Up to 5 TRM probes can be daisy chained to a single TT-SIM.   Each adapter contains the equivalent of 10 meters of “cable length” so the TraceTek can identify which TRM probe has made the leak detection with a unique location.

TRM-HX

TRM-to-Current Adapter

The TRN-to-CUrretn Adapter uses the resistance of various TRM sensor probes as input to control a 4-20 mA output current.   The adapters requires  an external 12 to 24 Vdc voltage supply and outputs a current in the 4-20 mA range to indicate the state if the connected TRM probe.  The adapter works with TRM-DFS-3, TRM-IOS, TRM-WLS, TRM-CC and TRM-HX.  The output current definitions varies from one sensor type and requires system integration work by the installer..  The adapter allow TRM’s resistance based family of sensors to be monitored by commonly available industrial instruments.

TRM-CC

TRM-Cable-to-Relay Adapter

This adapter allows 4-wire sensor cable to be monitored by TRM-Easy5-Relay-SDR.  This adapter board mounts directly to the input terminal block of the SDR relay.  There are connections for 12 Vdc or 24 Vdc supply voltage that is used by both the relay and the adapter board and connections for the traditional 4-wire leader cable associated with 4-wire sensor cables.   The primary purpose of this card is to allow TRN-Easy5-SDR to monitor TRM-Waterwire-HT sensor cable, however it can also be used to monitor any of the TraceTek sensor cables and many of those manufactured by RLE and TTK.

When this adapter is mounted on a TRM-Easy5-SDR, the 4-wire cable software module within the relay is automatically invoked.    Cable breaks and leaks are reported  on the status screen with a red backlight.     An estimated leak location is also displayed and be correlated to a cable map generated during installation.
