The TRM Remote Alarm Type-RO is wall mounted audible/visible alarm unit that operates on 12 Vdc. It is a stand alone or back-up method of alerting staff that a leak has been detected. For many leak detection installations, the sensors and monitoring devices are located in basements, mechanical rooms or other equipment spaces that are not routinely staffed. The primary alarm notification channel is likely to be a relay connection to a site wide monitoring system such as a distributed control system, PLC, BMS or other alarm panel. In some situations, where there is no pre-existing site monitoring system, or when the user wants a immediate and independent way to alert staff, the TRM Remote Alarm Type-RO is a very effective solution. Some installations will have the Remote Alarm Type-RO mounted directly adjacent to the sensors monitoring panel in the mechanical space, but more commonly the Remote Alarm will be installed in a facility office or security station that is more likely to be staffed. The Remote Alarm can be up to 500 feet away from the monitoring panel and is connected with 2 x 18AWG hook up wire.
The TRM Relay Unit Type-RO operates on very simple logic. When 12 Vdc is applied, a red LED pushbutton switch illuminates and a loud (95 db @ 30cm) buzzer is turned on. Any nearby staff member can silence the buzzer by pushing the pushbutton switch. The buzzer stops, but the red LED will stay illuminated until the 12 Vdc supply voltage is turned off.
The most common configuration is to use the supply voltage and an output relay at the sensor monitoring panel to control the TRM Remote Alarm Type-RO. In this configuration a leak is detected, the monitoring panel switches on the 12 Vdc supply. After the buzzer is silenced, the red LED pushbutton stays on until the leak is cleared at the sensor and the monitoring panel switches off the 12 Vdc supply to the Remote Alarm.
In addition to the LED pushbutton and buzzer, the Remote Alarm Type-RO includes an output relay (2 x Form-C) dry contacts that can be used to daisy chain additional Remote Alarms, beacons, horns etc.
